OUR COMMITMENT: put student-athlete mental health and overall wellness at the forefront of their collegiate experience
In collaboration with CAMP, THRIVE focuses on mental health and wellness, aiming to shed light on the unique challengs faced by student-athletes in their transition to college and during their entire collegiate career. THRIVE works to destigmatize conversations around mental health and promotes peer-to-peer connections across sports.
Setting the standard from the beginning, the Rookie Training Camp program and curriculum is designed specifically for freshmen student-athletes transitioning to life in college.
Continuing the conversation and breaking down barriers around mental health, the THRIVE Summit brings together student-athletes from all teams and levels of experience for opportunities to hear each other's stories and reflect on their own personal experiences.
Our community outreach efforts celebrate our university's motto, UT Prosim (That I May Serve), by engaging student-athletes in the community on a campus, local and national scale. Events include:
•Special Olympics basketball tournament
•Literacy and wellness initiatives at local elementary schools
•Adopt-A-Family fundraiser in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia
•Food insecurity programs at Micah's Backpack
•Hokie for a Day college access program...and so much more!
