BLACKSBURG – The NFL season has continued to thrill audiences with can’t-miss contests and wild matchups through four weeks of action. As the games continue into the fall and winter months, a clearer picture of the league’s most successful squads has slowly come into focus while all 32 teams seek to make the postseason early next year.

On the gridiron, former Hokies have brought their dazzling talents from Lane Stadium to the professional level. A plethora of notable Tech alumni put up impressive performances over the past two weeks, signaling to their teams – and to Hokie fans – that their time in Blacksburg was foundational in the current success they now enjoy.

Read below to see the standout performances in this two-week edition of NFL Hokies.

Chuck Clark – Safety, Detroit Lions
In what is his ninth season in the NFL but his first with Detroit, Clark has blended well with the Detroit secondary in four starts with the team. Between the two games that took place in weeks three and four of the NFL regular season, the safety gathered 14 total tackles, registering seven apiece in each contest.

The best moment from Clark’s last two weeks came in the fourth quarter of Detroit’s week three contest against the New York Jets. As the Jets were driving into Lions territory down seven with less than a minute to go in the game, Clark’s blitz of quarterback Geno Smith resulted in a hard hit, one that jarred the ball loose and was picked up by the Lions. The game-sealing forced fumble allowed Clark and the Lions to secure a thrilling 31-24 victory on home turf.

Bhayshul Tuten – Running Back, Jacksonville Jaguars
Tuten, in what is his sophomore year in the NFL after being selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, has risen up the ranks as an elite tailback for the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the past two weeks alone, the former Hokie has accrued 146 rushing yards alongside 35 receiving yards behind elite speed and overpowering physicality with the ball in his hands.

Tuten also found the endzone in the third week of the NFL season, slicing through the defense in the fourth quarter for a one-yard score against the New England Patriots. Jacksonville would go on to rout New England, 35-6, and follow up with a 22-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in week four.

Tremaine Edmunds – Linebacker, New York Giants
Edmunds continued to deliver elite tackling supported by years of experience at linebacker for the New York Giants over two weeks of action. Between contests against the Tennessee Titans and the Arizona Cardinals, the first-year Giant logged 19 total tackles – 14 of which were solo efforts – in consecutive victories. The latter contest also featured a sack, two TFLs, and a quarterback hit from the former Hokie.

Edmunds has been inserted into a defense that has shown up in the moments that matter most. Both matchups against the Titans and the Cardinals featured fourth quarter defensive stands that allowed the Giants to reach a 3-1 record and sole possession of the NFC East for the first time since November 2015.

Tim Settle – Defensive Lineman, Washington Commanders
Defensive lineman Tim Settle joined the Washington Commanders for the second time in his career this past offseason after previously spending four years with the team (2018-21). In weeks three and four of the 2026 NFL regular season, Settle provided pressure against the opposing offensive lines of the Seattle Seahawks and Indianapolis Colts respectively to the tune of three total tackles and a half sack.

The Commanders’ defensive line showed up in a big way in week three, limiting defending Super Bowl champion Seattle in what would subsequently be a 33-31 upset win for Washington. The defense will have to continue to support the team as quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Marcus Mariota are out with injury.

Divine Deablo – Linebacker, Atlanta Falcons (TO BE ADDED LATER)
Falcons linebacker Divine Deablo has assumed a standout role in Atlanta’s defensive scheme under second-year defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich. The former Hokie posted five total tackles over weeks three and four of the 2026 campaign, including a pass deflection in their week three contest against the Green Bay Packers.

The Falcons’ defense has stepped up mightily in the past two contests. After dropping the first two games of the season, Ulbrich’s unit allowed an average of 19 points per game in what have been two consecutive wins against the Packers and New Orleans Saints respectively.

Notable Matchups: Week Five of the 2026 NFL Regular Season

New York Giants at Washington Commanders: Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1 p.m. ET on FOX
It’s a battle of conference foes as the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders face off in the nation’s capital on Sunday afternoon. The Giants, who hold sole ownership of first place in the NFC East for the first time in over a decade, will look to extend their win streak to three games against a Commanders team that is riddled with offensive injuries.

Hokies are on both sides of the ball in the contest, as Giants linebacker Tremaine Edmunds and Commanders defensive lineman Tim Settle are both expected to suit up. Washington has won the last four head-to-head matchups between the two teams.

Baltimore Ravens at Atlanta Falcons: Sunday, Oct. 11 at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC
The Sunday slate of excitement will conclude with the Ravens flocking to Atlanta to face the Falcons at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on primetime television. Baltimore and Atlanta both enter Sunday’s contest on the heels of two consecutive wins, making the evening contest one that fans should keep their eyes on.

Both squads feature Hokies on defense in the contest, as Atlanta linebacker Divine Deablo and Baltimore defensive lineman Aeneas Peebles are both expected to dress. While the two teams have played each other just seven times in head-to-head matchups, the Falcons have won five of the seven contests.
