WEST POINT, Miss. – Valentine Delon recorded her third top 10 of the season behind a 5-under 139 (68-71) to guide the Virginia Tech women's golf team to a seventh-place finish at The Ally hosted by Mississippi State at Old Waverly Golf Club (par 72, 6,393 yards).
The tournament was condensed to 36 holes due to illness among the competing teams.
Delon, who finished runner-up in the individual race, carded eight birdies for the tournament and led the field in par-4 scoring at 3-under. Through three events this season, the Paris, France, native has finished first, second and tied for sixth.
Tech compiled a 10-over 586 (294-292) to place seventh, just five shots outside the top five. Oklahoma State topped the team leaderboard at 5-under 571 (289-282), led by medalist Louise Depadt's 6-under 138 (70-68), one shot clear of Delon. Ole Miss was five shots behind at even-par 576 (281-295).
The Hokies return to action Oct. 16-18 at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational hosted by North Carolina at Finley Golf Club in Chapel Hill, N.C.
