BLACKSBURG – Behind three different goal scorers, Virginia Tech (7-5-5, 3-4-2 ACC) took down Boston College (9-4-2, 2-4-2 ACC) 3-2 on Thursday night at Thompson Field.

Gabby Ciocca, Eliana Salama and Anna Weir found the back of the net for the Hokies in the win.

How It Happened
The Hokies struck first on a converted penalty kick to put them up 1-0 in the 25th minute. After Gabby Ciocca was fouled in the box, Eliana Salama stepped up and capitalized on the penalty as she netted her third goal of the season.

Just 37 seconds later, the Hokies doubled their lead. Salama received the ball along the sideline at midfield and passed to a sprinting Anna Weir, who had just crossed into the 18-yard box. Salama’s pass was perfectly placed, splitting three Boston College defenders as Weir one-touched the ball into the net to make it a 2-0 game.

The Eagles cut the lead to 2-1 in the 32nd minute, but the Hokies responded once again in the beginning of the second half. In the 52nd minute, a free kick set up Hannah Pachan to deliver a beauty of a set piece pass to a sprinting Ciocca right in the six-yard box, who headed it toward the far post to extend the Tech lead to 3-1.

Boston College scored once again in the 60th minute, but the Hokies’ defense held strong to secure the 3-2 win.
