Georgia Tech enters the Terror Dome after claiming their first ACC win of the season this past weekend.
While Virginia Tech was playing their Saturday contest at Cal, Georgia Tech stayed home for a battle against defending conference champions Duke. After a fourth quarter drive that resulted in running back Trelain Madoxx scoring with less than a minute left, the Yellow Jackets would claim a 28-25 victory and their first ACC win of the year.
The Yellow Jackets’ offense was largely led by Maddox in their victory on Saturday, who rushed for 81 yards and three scores on the day. In support of the lead rusher was quarterback Alberto Mendoza, who added 218 passing yards and a touchdown to wide receiver Jordan Allen.
Hokie fans should keep a keen eye on Maddox against a Hokies defense that has allowed a conference fourth-best 86.5 yards per game to opposing tailbacks.
A sold-out crowd at Lane Stadium will bring the heat against a Yellow Jackets team that has struggled on third down.
Saturday’s marquee matchup in Blacksburg will stand as the fourth consecutive sold-out home game in the 2026 regular season.
In front of what will be nearly 66,000 rowdy fans in Lane Stadium on Saturday afternoon, Georgia Tech will face a Hokies' defense supported by a sea of maroon and orange. The Yellow Jackets’ 36.2% third down conversion rate on offense – a number that ranks 13th out of 17 teams in the ACC – will be put to the test through all four quarters.
Against Duke this past weekend, Georgia Tech converted on four of their 10 third down attempts. The Hokies’ defense, which boasts a conference fourth-best 31.2% opponent third down conversion rate, is a unit that fans should continue to watch.
