BLACKSBURG – Mike Young and the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team announced the signing of 6-foot-4 guard Efrem "Butta" Johnson Thursday morning.
The Huntsville, Alabama native played last season at Clemson where he started nine times in 35 games, scoring 6.3 points per contest.
Prior to his season in the ACC, Johnson played at UAB for three seasons where he helped the Blazers to an American Athletic Conference title and NCAA appearance in 2024, when the squad advanced to the second round.
Johnson arrives in Blacksburg with 135 career games played and 55 starts. A 1,000-point scorer, Johnson has averaged 7.6 points per game in his career while shooting better than 39% from the field. Adept at the long ball, he has connected on 163 triples in his career at a 34.7% clip.
