How It Happened
Illinois broke the deadlock in the 44th minute with a cross from the left side that made its way into the box, where an Illini attacker tipped it through to an oncoming runner.

The Hokies’ best chance of the afternoon came in the 58th minute off a corner kick. Hannah Pachan sent a looping ball into the back post where Madi Boutot met it for a header that forced Illinois’ goalkeeper to make a fingertip save.
