Hokie ClubRALEIGH, N.C. – The Hokies (6-2-3) fell to NC State (9-1-2) on the road, 3-0.
Tech was down to 10 players after 20 minutes of play due to a red card for Peyton May.
How It Happened
The Wolfpack opened the scoring in the 16th minute with an unmarked header at the back post. It was four minutes later when Peyton May was dismissed from the game after a VAR review elevated a yellow card to a red card for a late tackle.
Now competing with 10 players, the Hokies continued to keep the pressure high but were unable to connect in the final third. NC State found their second goal with five minutes remaining in the first half as a defensive miscommunication allowed the Wolfpack forward a one-on-one with Julianna Trujillo.
The Hokies’ best chance came in the 61st minute off a set piece as Gabby Ciocca and Anna Weir had back-to-back shots hit the woodwork.
The Wolfpack added their final goal with 10 minutes remaining in the game as a long ball beat the defense and created a one-on-one opportunity against Trujillo that NC State finished.

- This was just the second shutout of the season for the Hokies
