Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – The second week of the 2026 NFL regular season wrapped up this past Monday evening, bringing an end to another exciting slate of matchups at the professional level. All 32 teams were in action over the three days that comprised Week Two, giving fans another broad look at the teams clamoring to lift the Lombardi Trophy early next year.
Storylines aplenty surround former Hokies who now find themselves in the NFL including those who continue to make a major impact on the success of their teams. Read below to discover the Tech alumni who made their mark in the second week of the 2026 NFL season.
Bhayshul Tuten – Running Back, Jacksonville Jaguars
Bhayshul Tuten continued to bolster his argument for lead running back responsibilities with yet another impressive game on Sunday afternoon. The tailback in the second game of his sophomore season registered 13 carries for 65 yards, averaging five yards an attempt while also hauling in a pair of receptions.
The highlight of the New Jersey native’s day, however, was early in the second quarter. Off a direct snap, Tuten would utilize great pace and elite blocking around the right side to find his way in the endzone, giving the Jaguars the lead and the first score of the contest. The play was Tuten’s first score of the 2026 season.
While Jacksonville was able to take the lead behind Tuten’s early score, the team failed to hold on as the Denver Broncos surged late for a 20-13 victory. The Jaguars host the New England Patriots on Sunday afternoon, a team they most recently beat in their contest at Wembley Stadium on Oct. 20, 2024.
Chuck Clark – Safety, Detroit Lions
In just his second start with the Detroit Lions, Chuck Clark continued to add elite defensive value behind a staggering 11 total tackles (4 solo) against the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night. The performance led the team in their road contest at the newly constructed Highmark Stadium, and Clark now finds himself second amongst the team in total tackles (14) through a pair of contests.
The Lions looked to secure consecutive victories with a win on Thursday night but were unable to do so in what was a 41-31 loss to the Bills. Detroit will look to find themselves back in the win column when they host the New York Jets at home on Sunday afternoon.
Jaylin Lane – Wide Receiver/Special Teams, Washington Commanders
Wide receiver and special teams asset Jaylin Lane returns to the Commanders for his sophomore season after being selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. In his rookie campaign this past year, the former Hokie hauled in 16 receptions for 225 yards, while also adding 314 yards and two scores via punt returns.
Lane continued to serve as an elite option on the special teams front against the Dallas Cowboys this past Sunday, who posted six kick returns for 120 yards in the action while also returning one punt return for 14 yards. The South Carolina native’s longest kick return of the evening came late in the fourth quarter for 33 yards.
The Commanders failed to get it done for the second straight week this past Sunday, losing to Dallas, 37-20, while losing quarterback Jayden Daniels to a dislocated elbow in the process. Washington will host Super Bowl LX winners Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
