BLACKSBURG, Va. – Virginia Tech used three unanswered goals to secure a 3-0 victory over Queens (N.C.) on Tuesday night at Thompson Field.

The Hokies (5-2-1) controlled the match from the opening whistle, finishing with a 19-11 advantage in shots and a 10-3 edge in corner kicks. Tech also held Queens (2-6-1) scoreless, recording its third shutout of the season.

Noe Uwimana opened the scoring in the 10th minute, converting a penalty kick at 9:03 to give the Hokies an early 1-0 advantage.

The Hokies continued to apply pressure in the second half before doubling their lead in the 80th minute. Mehdi Kettani found the back of the net in the 80th minute for his second goal of the season, extending Virginia Tech’s lead to 2-0.

Luke Hamel added an insurance goal less than seven minutes later, scoring at 86:39 to give the Hokies a three-goal cushion. The goal was Hamel’s second of the season.
