Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer has been named to the Davey O'Brien Award's Great 8 list following the third week of the college football season. Grunkemeyer helped lead the Hokies to a 35-26 road win at Maryland Saturday.
The Lewis Center, Ohio product completed 31 of 39 passes (.795) for 314 yards and three touchdowns in the win, while also rushing for an 18-yard touchdown. Grunkemeyer is the first Virginia Tech quarterback to throw for 300 yards in back-to-back games since 2018.
The Great 8 recognizes eight quarterbacks each week whose performances demonstrate excellence on the field. The Davey O’Brien Award is presented annually to the nation’s outstanding quarterback.
