WAYNESVILLE, N.C. — It was a strong three-day showing at the J.T. Poston Invitational for the Hokies, who carded a 26-under 826 (272-274-280) en route to a tie for second place. The tournament took place at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club (par 71, 6,735 yards).

Ben Baker tied for fourth individually, carding a 10-under 203 (63-66-74) that was fueled by a field-best, 8-under first round. The 63 tied the program's single-round record. Ashton Harper (72-71-67) and Sahish Reddy (74-66-70) each carded a 210 to tie for 25th.

South Carolina won the team title, shooting a 31-under 821 (277-274-270). Tjelle Rieger (68-67-62) shot 16-under, leading the way for the Gamecocks and finishing second individually. Southern Mississippi’s Benjamin Fernandez (67-65-64) won the individual title shooting 17-under.

The Hokies will look to continue their momentum at the Rod Myers Invitational in Durham, N.C. starting Sept. 21.
