Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG, Va. – The Hokies used a two-goal first half and a strong defensive effort in the second half to secure a 2–1 victory over RV Wake Forest on Sunday evening at Thompson Field.
With the win, head coach Mike Brizendine earned the 150th victory of his career.
The Hokies (3-2-1, 1-0-1 ACC) struck twice within the opening 16 minutes. Noe Uwimana opened the scoring in the sixth minute before Chase Vazquez doubled the advantage less than 10 minutes later.
Wake Forest (4-2-1, 1-1-0 ACC) cut into the deficit with just over a minute and a half remaining in the opening half, sending the Hokies into halftime with a 2–1 advantage.
Neither team found the back of the net in the second half, despite both sides generating 10 shots. Virginia Tech goalkeeper Diego Dauzier turned aside all five Wake Forest shots on target in the second half, finishing the match with six saves to earn his third win of the season.
