BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech Athletics announced Tuesday that its Saturday, Oct. 17, Homecoming matchup and Maroon Effect against Georgia Tech is officially sold out, setting the stage for a packed Lane Stadium and a full day of Homecoming traditions and special events, including Alumni Bands Day, the Ranger Run, Educators Appreciation Day and Scouts & 4-H Day. This is the third sellout of the season and there are limited options to catch the Hokies in action this fall.

Game time against Georgia Tech is still to be announced. 

Fans still seeking tickets to the sold-out Homecoming matchup can visit SeatGeek, the official fan-to-fan ticket marketplace of Virginia Tech Athletics, for available tickets.

The Battle of the Techs will serve as the centerpiece of Homecoming 2026, with activities taking place throughout the week for students, alumni, community members and friends. Fans in attendance can also look forward to a special halftime Homecoming ceremony and a performance from the Marching Virginians. 

Fans are encouraged to bring their maroon to Lane Stadium for the annual Maroon Effect celebration. The official 2026-27 Maroon Effect shirt is available for purchase here

Alumni Bands Day will welcome former members of the Marching Virginians and Highty-Tighties back to Lane Stadium for special pregame and halftime performances alongside current band members. 

As part of Homecoming 2026, members of the Ranger Company will also complete the final leg of a 100-mile run around campus, bringing the game ball into Lane Stadium and presenting it to the officials prior to kickoff. 

Virginia Tech will also celebrate educators and members of the Scouts and 4-H communities during the game. Educators can explore a special group offer, while Scouts and 4-H groups can learn more about available group opportunities
