Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech women’s basketball head coach Megan Duffy unveiled the Hokies’ 2026-27 non-conference schedule Monday afternoon.
The slate features 13 games, including 10 contests on Carilion Clinic Court at Cassell Coliseum and a trip to the Emerald Coast Classic in Destin, Florida.
The Hokies will begin the season with an exhibition contest at Maryland on Monday, Oct. 19. As former ACC foes, the two teams have not met since March 2, 2014, in College Park. The Terrapins finished 24-9 overall last season, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Tech officially opens the 2026-27 campaign at home against NC Central on Monday, Nov. 2. The Hokies and Eagles have met only four times, with each game taking place in Blacksburg.
Delaware heads into town on Wednesday, Nov. 4, for the first meeting between the two teams since Dec. 20, 1985, a 74-61 Hokies win. Virginia Tech remains at Cassell Coliseum for one more game on Sunday, Nov. 8, for an in-state clash with James Madison. It will be the Dukes’ first visit to Blacksburg since Dec. 14, 2008.
The Hokies will then face a pair of Atlantic 10 teams, hitting the road for a Nov. 12 matchup at VCU before returning home to face La Salle on Sunday, Nov. 15. Both meetings renew conference rivalries: the Rams were previously members of the METRO Conference, while Tech briefly belonged to the A-10 alongside the Explorers.
Tech will travel to Destin, Florida, for the Emerald Coast Classic from Nov. 23-24. The Hokies will open the event against UT Martin on Monday, Nov. 23, before facing either Alcorn State or Michigan State on Tuesday, Nov. 24.
Following the Emerald Coast Classic, Virginia Tech will return home to host UNC Greensboro on Sunday, Nov. 29. The Spartans will make their third straight trip to Blacksburg in the series, having last played at Cassell Coliseum on Nov. 20, 2023, in a 72-51 Tech win.
The Hokies will open December with a marquee matchup against Tennessee as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge on Thursday, Dec. 3, at Cassell Coliseum.
Virginia Tech will close the non-conference portion of its schedule with four additional home games, beginning with App State on Wednesday, Dec. 9. The game is part of a three-game series that will bring the Mountaineers back to Blacksburg in 2028. The Hokies hold a 9-0 home record against App State. The teams last met on Dec. 4, 2020, an 84-59 Virginia Tech win.
Tech will play Campbell on Sunday, Dec. 13 and it will be the second meeting between the two teams under Duffy’s tenure. The Camels finished 20-12 last season, including a 13-5 record in CAA play.
New River Valley foe Radford will visit Cassell Coliseum on Monday, Dec. 21, marking the fifth consecutive season the Highlanders have played in Blacksburg. Radford ended the 2025-26 campaign with a 23-13 overall record and advanced to the second round of the WNIT.
Virginia Tech rounds out its non-conference slate against the College of Charleston on Monday, Dec. 28. The Cougars last visited Blacksburg on Nov. 22, 2015, when the Hokies earned an 81-47 win. CofC is coming off an NCAA Tournament appearance and a CAA championship after finishing 27-6 overall and 16-2 in conference play.
The 18-game Atlantic Coast Conference schedule, along with television networks and game times, will be announced at a later date.
