Virginia Tech falls to Ohio State, 1-0, in season-opener

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Virginia Tech men's soccer opened the 2026 season Thursday night, falling to Ohio State, 1-0, at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

After a scoreless opening 45 minutes, the Buckeye’s Isaiah Chisolm broke through in the 58th minute, converting a pass from Jack Wayne for the lone goal of the match.

The Hokies created six shots throughout the match, putting two on frame. Alex Perez led Virginia Tech with three shots, including one on target, while Chase Vazquez added two attempts. Freshman Jaden Chan Tack also registered a shot on goal. Tech’s goalkeeper Diego Dauzier kept the Hokies within striking distance, recording seven saves on Ohio State's 19 shots.
