Hokie ClubBLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech men’s tennis head Coach Jim Thompson announced the addition of Assistant Coach Omar “Mario” El Allami Friday afternoon. El Allami joins the men’s tennis staff after serving as an assistant coach for Virginia Tech women’s tennis for three seasons.
"I am super excited to have Mario join our program," Thompson said of the addition to his staff. "The guys on the team already know him and they are super excited to work with him. Mario is a hard worker with an extensive knowledge of the game. He will bring passion and purpose to everything we do, and I can't wait to work with him this season."
Hailing from Casablanca, Morocco, El Allami attended the University of Hassan II where he studied pre law.
Prior to Virginia Tech, El Allami co-founded and worked as a head coach for Advantage Tennis Academy Casablancas. He also served as a head coach at club Olympique Casablancas for women’s U12, U14, U18 groups.
El Allami also worked as a head coach at the Marrakech Sports Center, and worked as a tennis manager at Beslamine Sports Association. He also holds a level two ITF certification, as well as a coaching degree from the Royal Institute of Elite Training.
He has also coached the Moroccan National Team for boys and girls U18 and U16 and has coached Malak El Allami to an ITF high ranking of 26 and a US Open Junior Doubles title.
