BLACKSBURG – The Virginia Tech men’s soccer fall competition schedule has been announced by head coach Mike Brizendine on Wednesday.
The Hokies, who will see the pitch 18 times in the regular season, will play 10 matches at Thompson Field. Eight of the squads on 2026 fixture list were 2025 NCAA tournament teams, including two College Cup participants.
Tech opens its season on the road on Thursday, Aug. 20 at 8 p.m. at Ohio State. It marks the first time that the Hokies will open their campaign on the road since the 2023 season.
Virginia Tech then kicks off the home portion of their schedule with a 4 p.m. match on Sunday, Aug. 23 against Howard, the first clash between the two teams since 2012. The homestand continues Friday, Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. with Kentucky. It will mark the first match played in Blacksburg in the series history and the third all-time meeting.
The Hokies leave Blacksburg to open ACC play at NC State, last year’s national runner-up, at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Tech hosts ETSU for the first time since 2021 on Wednesday, Sept. 9, before welcoming Wake Forest on Sunday, Sept. 13 to Thompson Field.
Conference play continues on the road in Durham, N.C., as the Hokies face Duke at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
Virginia Tech returns home for two matches to close out September, first hosting Queens on Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 6 p.m., followed by reigning ACC champion SMU at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27. It will be the first time the Mustangs have played in Blacksburg since joining the league in 2024.
On Friday, Oct. 2, the Hokies travel to Charlottesville to face Virginia, the ACC runner-up, in the 2026 installment of the Commonwealth Clash.
The following week, Virginia Tech entertains Longwood on Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m., following forward Dagur Traustason’s hat-trick performance against the Lancers a season ago.
Tech hits the road for their final two away matches of the regular season, beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 at Pitt. It is the first time Virginia Tech will play a match in Pittsburgh since 2023. Their away form will continue to be tested on Friday, Oct. 16, as they face College Cup participant Furman. The Hokies last played in Greenville, S.C. in 2024, earning a 3-0 victory.
After two weeks away, Tech concludes its regular season with three matches at Thompson Field. The final non-conference opponent, Winthrop, visits at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21. The following week will see Clemson (Sunday, Oct. 25) and Syracuse (Friday, Oct. 30) in Blacksburg.
