Head Coach Jim Thompson is eager to announce the signing of transfer Gevorg Mnatsakanyan. The junior will join Virginia Tech in the fall after spending two years at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he posted a career 26-21 singles record and 22-19 doubles record.
“I am super excited to have Gevorg join our program and to have the opportunity to work with him,” said Thompson. “He is extremely talented and will help us tremendously!”
In his sophomore season, Mnatsakanyan earned a spot on the All-Atlantic 10 Second Team, winning 17 singles and 16 doubles matches. He closed out the season at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Rams.
In his freshman campaign, he helped VCU win the A-10 Conference Championship, going undefeated in singles in the tournament. He won a combined 15 singles and doubles matches in his rookie season.
