Hokies contribute to school records in athletic department GPA during spring semester (3.42), scholastic year (3.38)

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Sharing in the recognition of its best academic and athletic performers this season, the Virginia Tech baseball team placed 10 student-athletes onto the 2026 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Tuesday.

For the fourth consecutive season under head coach John Szefc, the Hokies’ class of honorees eclipsed double digits, furthering the program’s commitment to the pursuit of well-rounded student-athlete experiences.

Leading Virginia Tech’s 2026 awardees, junior pitchers Preston Crowl and Brett Renfrow both celebrated their third consecutive career selections. Eight Hokies collected debut honors: senior pitcher Brody Roe, senior pitcher Brendan Yagesh, junior pitcher Danny Lazaro, junior outfielder Nick Locurto, junior pitcher Aiden Robertson, sophomore pitcher Logan Eisenreich, freshman infielder Ethan Ball and freshman pitcher Ethan Grim.

As an athletic department, Virginia Tech’s varsity sports set a school record with their combined 3.38 GPA during the 2025-26 scholastic year. The Hokies’ collective 3.42 GPA during the spring 2026 semester also equated to a school record.
