Virginia Tech women’s soccer has signed Celine Kampmann to the 2026 recruiting class. Kampmann, a defender from Vaerloese, Denmark, played club soccer with FC Copenhagen and FC Nordsjælland. During her time with FC Copenhagen, the team earned promotion to Denmark’s top league.
“We’re excited to add somebody of Celine’s stature and experience to our program,” head coach Chugger Adair said. “She has a very strong soccer IQ and ability to play out of the back. She can score goals off set pieces and be dangerous in the attack as well, with her heading ability. We can’t wait to add her to our program as well as our culture.”
Why did you choose Virginia Tech? I chose Virginia Tech because it’s an incredibly strong soccer program that competes in a top‑level conference, and I truly believe the competitive environment there will help me continue to grow as a player. The overall culture at Virginia Tech also really stands out to me. It feels like a place where I can develop both on and off the field, and I’m excited to become part of a new family.
What was your favorite thing about your visit? I haven’t had the chance to visit campus in person yet, but from everything I’ve seen in photos and videos, it looks absolutely incredible. The facilities seem outstanding, and the whole environment gives me a really good feeling about what it will be like to study and train there every day. I’ve also talked with both the staff and some of the girls on the team, and they all seem incredibly kind and welcoming, so I can’t wait to meet them in person.
What excites you the most about being part of Virginia Tech women’s soccer? What excites me the most about being part of Virginia Tech women’s soccer is the idea of living so close to my teammates and becoming a real unit together. It really means a lot to me to be surrounded by people who share the same goals, visions and dreams as I do. I’m also looking forward to training and playing a lot of soccer and hopefully winning a lot together. Getting to know everyone and building new friendships both on and off the field is something I genuinely look forward to.
What are your soccer strengths? One of my biggest strengths on the field is that I’m a technical center back who loves having the ball. I’m calm under pressure, comfortable carrying the ball forward and I can play good diagonal balls and passes in behind. My 1v1 defending is an important strength of mine as well and I use my physicality effectively in duels.
Who is your favorite pro player and why? My favorite pro player is Virgil van Dijk. I love the way he defends 1v1, how calm he is on the ball and his overall game understanding. He also plays amazing diagonal passes and balls in behind, which I really look up to. On top of that, he’s a great leader.
What do you plan on majoring in? I plan on majoring in psychology.
What is one thing you want Virginia Tech fans to know about you? One thing I want Virginia Tech fans to know about me is that I love doing fun and wild goal celebrations when I score, and I’m really looking forward to showing it.
