CHARLOTTE – Bree Carrico was tabbed ACC Freshman of the Year as eight Hokies garnered All-ACC honors, the league office announced Wednesday.
Carrico and Jordan Lynch join forces on this year’s All-ACC First Team. Tech also combined for six selections on the All-ACC Second Team: Kylie Aldridge, Nora Abromavage, Rachel Castine, Michelle Chatfield, Addison Foster and Emma Mazzarone.
All-ACC honorees are voted on based on conference stats only. Tech has earned eight or more All-ACC selections for the third time under head coach Pete D’Amour.
Bree Carrico is the fourth Hokie in program history to garner ACC Freshman of the Year and just the second pitcher (Emma Lemley, 2022). She was phenomenal in her rookie campaign with a 1.93 conference ERA that ranked third among pitchers. At 6-1 against ACC opponents, the Appomattox, Va., native has 49 strikeouts in 50.2 innings of work while only allowing 14 earned runs.
Carrico garnered D1 Softball National Freshman of the Week and ACC Freshman of the Week honors after posting a 3-0 week with victories over NC State and Longwood. The redshirt-freshman recorded 16 strikeouts over 11.0 innings and held opponents to a .029 average. She tied her career-high 10 strikeouts in the Hokies’ 14-4 win at Boston College (March 27). A star in relief, Carrico recorded two saves as well in ACC play.
Jordan Lynch shined for the Hokies in ACC play with her .402 average. The first-time First Team honoree recorded a team-high 35 hits, 10 home runs and a .839 slugging percentage over 24 starts at third base. Most recently, Lynch hit a home run in each of the Hokies’ wins in their sweep over Syracuse (May 1-3). She was awarded ACC Player of the Week for the first time in her career after hitting .583 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in Tech's sweep at Boston College (March 27-29). She has 12 multi-hit games over 24 ACC contests. This is the second All-ACC honor for Lynch as she was a Third Team selection in 2025.
Shining in her sophomore season, Nora Abromavage hit .371 over 24 starts at left field with eight home runs, 23 RBIs and a team-high 18 walks for a .500 on-base percentage to earn Second Team honors. She hit the walk-off home run in the Hokies’ 6-5 win over North Carolina (April 24) and finished the series against the Tar Heels hitting .455 with two home runs and three RBIs. She also homered twice in Tech’s series sweep at Boston College (March 27-29). This is Abromavage’s first career All-ACC honor.
Kylie Aldridge garners a consecutive Second Team All-ACC honor with a .382 average at 24 starts as the catcher/designated player. She has 14 extra base hits, seven of them home runs, and slugged .767. She shined in Tech’s series win against Clemson (April 2-4) as she hit .625 with two home runs and four RBIs. The senior is the hardest player in the ACC to strike out with just four strikeouts in 149 total at bats. The Hope Mills, N.C. native hit the 100th team home run of the season in the Hokies’ 12-1 win over Syracuse (May 3).
A veteran in the middle infield, Rachel Castine posted a career-best .400 average in ACC play this year. She hit a home run in every win in Tech’s sweep at Syracuse (May 1-3) and hit the key go-ahead home run in Tech’s 5-4 win over North Carolina in the series finale (April 26). The Chesapeake, Va., native also recorded her second multi-home run game of her career with two long balls in Tech’s 11-3 win over NC State. The senior launched four doubles and six home runs in ACC play with a .500 on-base percentage. It marks the first All-ACC honor for Castine.
Michelle Chatfield is three-for-three with the third All-ACC honor of her career. The Second Team honoree recorded a team-high 30 RBIs along with a .380 average and eight home runs over 24 starts at first base. Chatfield was crucial for Tech in their series sweep over North Carolina (April 24-26) as she broke the program record with nine RBIs in a single game in the Hokies’ 14-5 victory. She finished the weekend hitting .750 with four home runs, 10 RBIs and a .818 on-base percentage enroute to being tabbed the NFCA National Player of the Week and the ACC Player of the Week (April 28). A star defensively as well, the Lovettsville, Va., native posted a .987 fielding percentage.
Addison Foster paved the way for the Hokies from the leadoff spot as she hit a team-best .444 in ACC play. The Lockport, Ill., native recorded a league-best 12 doubles in conference play and tied the single-season doubles record with her 18th double of the year. Of the 24 ACC games, Foster recorded multi-hit games in 12 of them. She also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in center field. This is Foster’s first All-ACC honor of her career as she transferred to Virginia Tech for the 2026 season after two years at Stetson.
Emma Mazzarone, the two-time ACC Pitcher of the Week this season (March 24, March 31), earned her third consecutive All-ACC honor. The Second Team selection went 10-3 with a 3.22 ERA in conference play. Her 85 strikeouts in ACC play ranks second among pitchers. She shined in the Hokies’ series sweep over NC State as she went 2-0 against the Wolfpack with 17 strikeouts and no earned runs. In Tech’s series sweep over Boston College, Mazzarone allowed just two hits and struck out 13 batters in 7.0 innings. At the plate, Mazzarone hit .400 with three RBIs and a .462 on-base percentage.

Virginia Tech (44-9, 18-6 ACC) clinched the No. 3 seed in the ACC Softball Championship, which will be held at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Va., from May 6-9. As the No. 3 seed, the Hokies earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 6 Virginia/No. 11 Pitt on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.
The game will be televised on ACC Network.
