CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Katrin Brzyszkowska set a Virginia Tech program record in the women’s outdoor shot put with a personal-best mark, earning ACC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors, the league announced Tuesday.

Brzyszkowska competed at the Jim Green Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, on May 2, winning the shot put with a throw of 17.40 meters (57 feet, 1 inch). Her mark currently ranks second in the ACC, seventh in the NCAA East Region and 12th in NCAA Division I. It also stands as the top outdoor mark in Virginia Tech history.

Her success builds on a strong 2026 indoor season, highlighted by her first ACC title. She recorded a throw of 17.00 meters (55 feet, 9.25 inches) at the conference championships, the second-best mark in Virginia Tech indoor history in the indoor shot put. The title capped a dominant season in which she won nearly every competition, further solidifying her place among the program’s all-time greats.
