Hokies clinch No. 3 seed in ACC Softball Championship

Tech faces the winner of No. 6 Virginia/No. 11 Pitt on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.

CHARLOTTE – Virginia Tech softball clinched the No. 3 seed in the ACC Softball Championship, which will be held at Palmer Park in Charlottesville, Va., from May 6-9.

As the No. 3 seed, the Hokies earned a first-round bye and will play the winner of No. 6 Virginia/No. 11 Pitt on Thursday, May 7 at 7:30 p.m.

Earlier this season, the Hokies took the series at then-No. 21 Virginia, winning two of three games. Tech has not faced Pitt this season.

The No. 13/17 Hokies (44-9, 18-6 ACC) won six ACC series to finish at 18-6 within the conference. Most recently, the Hokies are fresh off a series sweep at Syracuse where they outscored the Orange 37-4 over three games.

Offensively, Tech leads the ACC in almost every single category, including batting average (.362), runs (436), hits (534), home runs (101), RBIs (416), slugging percentage (.656), walks (229), and on-base percentage (.448). The Hokies also lead the conference with a 2.91 ERA and 362 strikeouts. 

All games in the ACC Softball Championship will be televised on ACC Network except the championship game, which is set for Saturday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN.

All-Session passes, which include access to all 11 games, including the championship game on Saturday, are priced at $45. Daily tickets are also available, with prices ranging from $12 to $20.
