BATON ROUGE, La. – Virginia Tech’s (48-12, 18-6 ACC) season came to a close in the Baton Rouge Regional Final as the Hokies fell to (16) LSU (40-17, 13-11 SEC), 7-2, on Sunday afternoon at Tiger Park.

How It Happened
Tech jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. After Addison Foster led the Hokies off with a double to left field over the head of the outfielder, Jordan Lynch followed her up with an RBI single to right field to bring Foster home.

An RBI from Foster extended the Hokie lead to 2-0 in the bottom of the second. After Annika Rohs singled up the middle and advanced on a passed ball, Addison Foster hit a slow single to second base, beating out the throw and allowing Rohs to score.

LSU scored seven unanswered runs throughout the third, fifth and sixth innings to take a 7-2 lead. The Tigers scored four in the top of the third off a home run, a two-RBI single through the left side and a blooper double to right field.

The Tigers added two more runs in the top of the fifth after capitalizing on two walks. With a runner on third each time, an infield single to shortstop and a fielder’s choice to second saw two more runs cross the plate. LSU tacked on another run in the top of the sixth.
