BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech Athletics and the Hokie Club are calling on Hokie Nation to show up for student-athlete mental health this Mental Health Awareness Month.
Throughout May, supporters can donate directly to the Sport Psychology department, fueling the work of the Counseling and Athletic Mental Performance (CAMP) staff as they deliver critical mental health services to Virginia Tech's student-athletes year-round.
From personalized counseling sessions to suicide prevention workshops and team mental health programming, CAMP is on the front lines of student-athlete wellness every single day and your support makes that work possible.
"These funds are vital in helping us continue to provide the best possible care for our student-athletes," said Dr. Gary Bennett, Senior Associate Athletic Director and head of CAMP.
May is the moment to invest in the people behind the jersey. Every dollar goes directly toward building a stronger, healthier Hokie program from the inside out.
"What CAMP has built here at Virginia Tech goes beyond services, it's a culture," explained Chris Helms, Executive Associate AD for Sport Administration, the sport administrator for CAMP. "Our student-athletes know that when they walk through that door, they'll be met with genuine care and zero judgment. That kind of environment doesn't happen by accident, and it doesn't sustain itself without investment. The work being done by our Sport Psychology staff every single day is something we're incredibly proud of, and we're grateful to everyone in Hokie Nation who makes it possible."
