ROME, Ga. – Virginia Tech (6-16, 3-10 ACC) continues its season competing as the No. 1 seed in the UTR Sports NIT Championship.
The tournament will take place at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College.
The Hokies will begin play on May 7 at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinal round, facing the winner of No. 4 UT Chattanooga and No. 5 NC Central.
“We are super excited to play in the UTR Sports NIT Championship,” said Head Coach Jim Thompson. “The facilities in Rome are very good, and I feel like it will give our guys another great opportunity to finish off this season. Our guys are excited to compete!”
Upon victory, the Hokies would compete in the championship match May 8 at 9 a.m. against the winner of No. 2 North Alabama and No. 3 Longwood.
The last time Tech has faced one of the four teams was during the 2025 season, facing Longwood, which resulted in a 6-1 victory at home for the Hokies on Jan. 17, 2025.
This tournament will be the fourth UTR Sports NIT Championship, which began in 2023.
