BLACKSBURG – Following a record-setting weekend at the plate, Michelle Chatfield has been tabbed the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I National Player of the Week and ACC Player of the Week.

The Lovettsville, Va., native was stellar for the Hokies all week and was crucial to Tech’s sweep over the Tar Heels. On the week, Chatfield hit .583 with four home runs, 11 RBIs with a 1.750 slugging percentage. She also drew three walks and recorded no strikeouts, which led to a whopping .667 on-base percentage.

Against the Tar Heels, Chatfield hit .750, going 6-for-8 with four home runs. She posted 10 RBIs against North Carolina and finished with a .818 on-base percentage over the three-game series.

In the second game of the series, Chatfield powered the Hokies to a 14-5 victory behind a program-record nine RBIs. She recorded her third career four-hit game and her second three-home run game of her career.

She began the game with an RBI single up the middle and followed it up with a grand slam in her next plate appearance. Her third hit of the game was a three-run bomb and she capped off her career day with a solo shot.

The nine RBIs in a game are the most in a single game, beating Megan Evans’ record of eight back in 2004.

In Tech’s Game One win on Friday, Chatfield went 2-for-3 with a home run and a walk. The junior also drew two walks in Sunday’s 5-4 win.

This is the third ACC weekly honor of her career as she garnered Player of the Week honors twice in 2025.

The Hokies (41-9, 15-6 ACC) conclude the ACC slate at Syracuse (18-23, 4-15 ACC) from May 1-3 in Syracuse, N.Y.
