BLACKSBURG – Mike Young and the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team announced the signing of 6-foot-9 forward Kuol Atak Monday. Atak, who recently finished his redshirt freshman season at Oklahoma will have three years of eligibility remaining.
In his redshirt freshman season, Atak played in 24 games for the Sooners who went 21-16 and participated in The Crown event in Las Vegas. He averaged 7.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and shot better than 46% from the field. From beyond the arc, Atak shot the ball at a 41% clip.
His season high in scoring came on December 29 when he scored 24 points against Mississippi Valley State. That night, the Haltom City, Texas native was 9-14 from the field and made six 3-pointers, which stands as his career high.
