Tech drops final regular season contest to No. 20 Virginia, 13-10

BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech lacrosse dropped their final regular-season content to the twentieth-ranked Virginia Cavaliers, 13-10. The loss brings the team to 9-8 overall and 3-7 in ACC play. 

The Hokies’ offense struck first, with Mia Pozzi scoring the first goal of the game four and a half minutes into play. The Cavaliers responded quickly, netting three goals in a two-and-a-half-minute span.

In the second frame of play, four unanswered goals by Sarah Murrell, Lauren Render, Colleen Thieke, and Reese Wallich gave the squad a 6-4 advantage. Virginia answered once again, closing the half on a three-goal run to take a one-goal lead, 7-6, going into the halftime break. 

Virginia Tech added four more goals in the third quarter, going into the final frame tied at 10 apiece. Virginia held Tech scoreless in the final 15 minutes, while scoring three more goals to take the Commonwealth Clash, 13-10.

In goal, Malie Follet recorded seven saves.
