NEW YORK, N.Y. — Nickeil Alexander-Walker and the Atlanta Hawks are set to tip off action in the NBA Playoffs on Saturday, April 18 against the third-seeded New York Knicks. The Hawks earned the six seed this season. Game One of the series from Madison Square Garden will tip off at 6 p.m. and can be seen on Prime Video.

Alexander-Walker, who starred at Tech during the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons, has been a revelation for the franchise in his first season in Atlanta. A candidate for the league's Most Improved Player award, Alexander-Walker is averaging a career-best 20.8 points per game this season. Across 71 starts, the guard is also contributing 3.4 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.3 steals and owns a 1.8 assist to turnover ratio. He is also averaging a career-high 33.4 minutes per game.

He is the first NBA athlete since 2014-15 to see his scoring average go up by 10 points and exceed 20 ppg. (averaged 9.4 last season in Minnesota).

Alexander-Walker was the recipient of the 2025-26 Sekou Smith Award, an honor that goes to the player who best represents themselves and the franchise with professionalism and integrity in their interactions with the media.

With the Hokies, Alexander-Walker led the squad to two NCAA Tournament appearances, with the 2019 team earning a four seed in the East Region and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen.

He was selected in the first round with the 17th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft by Brooklyn.
