CARY, N.C. – Virginia Tech (4-16, 1-11 ACC) begins play in the ACC Women’s Championship in Cary, N.C., with a first-round match as the 17-seed against 16th-seeded Louisville (10-11, 1-11 ACC), on Tuesday, April 14 at 10 a.m.

The Hokies look for a fresh start in the postseason. In the final regular-season match for Tech, the team fell 4-1 to No. 70 Wake Forest, highlighted by a win from Arina Gamretkaia on her senior day.

At the time of the bracket announcement, both teams sit unranked by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Cardinals found nine non-conference wins this season and a 4-3 conference win over Florida State. They are led by Alice Otis on Court 1, who picked up a top-20 win over Cal’s No. 16 Johanne Svendsen on March 27.

In the final weekend of the season, Louisville beat Austin Peay in a 4-0 sweep on Saturday, April 11.

The two teams have yet to face each other this season. Should the Hokies advance, they will play 9th-seeded Stanford on Wednesday, April 15, at 3:30 p.m.
