BERKELEY, CALIF. - Virginia Tech lacrosse was victorious over the Cal Golden Bears, 10-5, Saturday afternoon. The win brings the team to 9-7 overall and 3-6 in ACC play. 

The Hokies’ offense got off to a slow start, with Sarah Murrell scoring the team’s lone goal of the first quarter. 

Going into the second frame of play, Murrell netted her second goal, followed by Lauren Render and Maggie Flanagan scoring their first goals of the afternoon. The Hokies led 4-3 at halftime.

Momentum picked up for Tech in the second half as the squad shut the Bears out in the third quarter, allowing them to score five goals unanswered in the frame. Render pushed through contact to tally the Hokies’ final goal of the game, sealing the team’s third conference victory of the season.

Render finished the game with her sixth hat trick of the season. Flanagan, Murrell and Mia Pozzi each tabbed two goals, with five players tallying an assist apiece.

In goal, Malie Follet posted 12 saves, her sixth game this season with 10 or more saves.
