Men's pole vault sweeps the podium, Bowen and Brzyszkowska climb up VT's all-time leaderboard

Men's pole vault goes 1-2-3, and Bowen climbs to third all-time in program history for discus.

Athens, Ga. — The first two days of competition at the Spec Towns Invite and Oklahoma Throws Series World Invite saw outstanding performances from men's pole vault and Yekini Bowen in the discus throw.

Bowen continued to soar up Virginia Tech's all-time leaderboard for discus at the Oklahoma Throws Series World Invite. His 60.41m (184 feet 10 inches) throw moved him up from fourth to third in program history. 

Conner McClure, Maddox Hamm, and Layne Studer swept the podium for pole vault at the Spec Towns Invitational, with McClure finishing first, Hamm second, and Studer third. 

Both McClure and Hamm cleared the 5.53m (18 feet 1.75 inches) bar, a season-best for McClure. Studer finished with a mark of 5.23m (17 feet 1.75 inches).

The women's pole vault saw the podium as well, with Chiara Sistermann placing second with a 4.31m (14 feet 1.75 inches) mark.

Katrin Brzyszkowska improved her mark in discus at the Oklahoma Throws Series Invite. She recorded a personal best 50.76m (166 feet 6 inches), which places her fifth all-time in program history.

Nate Paris secured a personal best in the shot put during the decathlon with a 12.98m (42 feet 7 inches) throw, finishing third. He would also place first in the 100m (10.58) and long jump (7.12m (23 feet four inches)), and placed second in the 110H (11.69).

Fellow decathlete, Stuart Pirtle, finished first in the 110H with a personal best time of 14.44, and placed third in the 100m (10.97), high jump (2.00m (6 feet 6.75 inches)), and discus (37.78m (123 feet 11 inches)).

Alex Hoffman hit a personal best in the hammer throw with a 60.74m (199 feet 3 inches) toss at the Spec Towns Invite.

Freshman Joseph Rozynski hit a personal best time of 22.26 in the 200m.
