GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Hokies fall in the first match of the road trip, 4-2 to No. 67 Furman Paladins on Sunday afternoon.

Tech only had five active student-athletes on the afternoon, resulting in only fielding five singles players and two doubles teams. This resulted in forfeits on Court 3 doubles and Court 6 singles.

In doubles, No. 51 Arina Gamretkaia and Özlem Uslu fell to No. 34 Lillie Murphy and Elle Warren, 6-4, giving the Paladins the doubles point. Mila Mulready and Linda Ziets-Segura were tied up at 5-5 when the match was called.

In singles, the Paladins started with a point on Court 6 from the forfeit. Elizaveta Castillo picked up a win by retirement after being up 3-2 in the first set.

Uslu found a second win for the Hokies with a reverse sweep of Elle Warren on Court 1, 1-6, 6-2, 6-0.

Gamretkaia fell in straight sets, and Mulready fell in three sets to ultimately give Furman the 4-2 win.
