BRIGHTON, Mass. – No. 11/12 Virginia Tech defeated Boston College, 17-3, to sweep the doubleheader against the Eagles.

The Hokies’ 17 runs are the most scored in a game since they scored 21 at Pitt (April 18, 2025).

Tech extends its win streak to nine games and has swept back-to-back ACC opponents.

How It Happened

Tech jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first off a Nora Abromavage home run – her 11th of the season.

The Hokies saw 12 runs cross the plate in the top of the second to take a commanding 14-0 lead. The 12 runs in the top of the second tied the most runs ever scored in an inning by the Hokies.

Rachel Castine kicked things off with a two-RBI double to center field to score Kylie Aldridge and Gaby Mizelle.

With Castine on second and Annika Rohs on first, Jordan Lynch joined in on the fun and hit her 11th home run of the season – a three-run blast to straight center – to extend the Tech lead to 7-0. Immediately following Lynch, the Hokies went back-to-back as Zoe Yaeger launched a solo shot to deep left field.

An RBI groundout from Aldridge and an RBI single from Mizelle extended the lead to 10-0. Tech scored its ninth run of the inning off a wild pitch, which was followed by Addison Foster ripping a two-RBI single.

Tech capped off the 12-run inning with an RBI double from Lynch.

The Hokies scored another run in the top of the third off another pinch-hitting appearance from Haley Luginbill to score Sara McNelly.

Boston College scored three runs in the bottom of the third, but the scoring did not stop for the Hokies. Lynch tallied her fifth RBI of the day off a double to left center, and Lynch scored shortly after on a fielder’s choice by McNelly to make it 17-3.
