Kipchirchir medals in 10K, Chepkochei and Cook climb VT’s all-time top 10

BLACKSBURG, VA. The Virginia Tech track and field team delivered standout performances Thursday, with two athletes etching their names into the program’s all-time top 10 and Nicholas Kipchirchir securing a podium finish. The Hokies competed at the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, N.C., and the Terry Long Florida State Relays in Tallahassee, Fla.

Kipchirchir ran the 10,000 meters at the Raleigh Relays, recording a 28:26.94 to finish second, while teammate Linus Chepkochei posted a personal best of 29:26.87, moving into the No. 9 spot on the program’s all-time top 10. Both athletes finished in the top 30 in a field of 95 competitors.

At the Terry Long Florida State Relays, Kaitlyn Cook won the long jump with a personal best of 6.05m (19’ 10.25”), securing the No. 5 spot on Virginia Tech’s all-time outdoor list.
