Tech falls in road match to No. 30 Miami

Gamretkaia and Uslu continue to find success in doubles

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The Hokies fall 4-0 to the Miami Hurricanes on Friday afternoon in Florida. 

Tech was back at full strength after playing down a court against Clemson on March 14, as Alston Myatt and Özlem Uslu both returned to the lineup. 

No. 41-ranked Arina Gamretkaia and Uslu found yet another win in doubles with a 6-1 victory over Miami’s Court 1 duo. Tech dropped the matches on Courts 2 and 3 for the Canes to secure the doubles point. 

Myatt, Uslu and Mila Mulready all fell in straight sets in singles for Miami to clinch the match. 

When the match was called, Linda Ziets-Segura had split the first two sets on Court 6 and was battling in the third set, Elizaveta Castillo had won the first set, and Gamretkaia was in the tiebreak of the second set, looking to split the match.
