CLEMSON, S.C. – Tech falls to No. 18 Clemson, 4-0, on Saturday afternoon.
The Hokies only had five active student-athletes on the afternoon, resulting in only fielding five singles players and two doubles teams. This resulted in forfeits on Court 3 doubles and Court 6 singles.
Despite a solid fight, Elizaveta Castillo and Kirsten Woods fell 6-3 in doubles, as the Tigers took three straight games to secure the point. When the match was called, Mila Mulready and Linda Ziets-Segura were in a fight on Court 1 against No. 35 Rinon Okuwaki and Jade Groen.
Clemson extended their lead after Woods retired in the second set of her match. The Tigers clinched the match with a straight-set sweep on Court 2.
Arina Gamretkaia was up on No. 83 Rinon Okuwaki, 6-4, 0-1 at the time the match ended.
