ELON, N.C. – No. 11 Virginia Tech (22-2) extended its win streak to 15 games with a 14-2 run-rule victory over Elon on Wednesday night.

Seven different Hokies recorded a hit in the win and Sophie Kleiman improved to 5-1 in the circle.

How It Happened
Tech jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first off an RBI fielder’s choice by Zoe Yaeger and a sacrifice fly from Addison Foster.

The Hokies added four more runs in the top of the third, starting with an RBI single to right center from Yaeger to score Nora Abromavage. Kylie Aldridge delivered the Hokies’ second sacrifice fly of the night to score Michelle Chatfield, and Gaby Mizelle followed her up with an RBI single to shortstop to bring Yaeger home. Tech capped off the four-run inning with a Rachel Castine RBI double to right center to make it a 6-0 game.

Addyson Fisher pitched three scoreless innings before Elon scored their first run in the bottom of the fourth. After Sophie Kleiman entered the contest with runners on first and second with no outs, she only allowed one other run to score as Elon cut the deficit to 7-2.

A seven-run top of the sixth propelled the Hokies to a 14-2 lead. With the bases loaded, Chatfield drew a walk. Yaeger immediately followed her up with an RBI groundout to the pitcher to make it 9-2, and Foster’s second sacrifice fly of the contest extended it to 10-2.

After an RBI single from Mizelle, runners sat on first and second for Castine, who blasted her seventh home run of the season to left field to bring in three runs and make it a 14-2 ballgame.
