Tech sweeps IU Indy for second win of season

All six singles players swept their matches

INDIANAPOLIS – Tech wins second match of season 7-0 over IU Indianapolis on Friday afternoon. 

It was a dominant showing for the Hokies in doubles. Sophomores Mila Mulready and Linda Ziets-Segura played their first match together this season, picking up a 6-0 win over Kally Kodzinski and Elle Kotre. 

Elizaveta Castillo and Laima Frosch clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 win on Court 3. 

Tech’s dominance continued into singles as all six athletes swept their opponents. Özlem Uslu started a 6-3, 6-2 win and was followed closely by Frosch, who rounded off a 6-2, 6-3 win. 

Freshman Kirsten Woods made her debut in singles, picking up a 6-4, 6-3 win. Ziets-Segura also found her first singles win of the season with a 6-3, 6-4 win. 

Arina Gamretkaia found her second sweep of the season with a 7-5, 6-2 win. Castillo rounded off the wins as she swept her opponent, 7-6(5), 6-0.
