EATONTON, Ga. – The Virginia Tech women’s golf team finished first out of 15 teams at the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational, which concluded Sunday at Great Waters at the Reynolds Lake Oconee (par 72, 6,107 yards).
The Hokies had rounds of 286, 293 and 289 to come in first at 4-over 868, their second straight team victory.
Pearl Phoncharatkun led the Hokies with an even-par 216 (73-75-68) to tie for third. Phoncharatkun put on her best performance of the season so far by scoring her lowest round (4-under 68) and her first top-five finish this season.
Xin Yao Wang placed eighth with a 3-over 219 (72-75-72). Emily Mathews tied for 14th with a 6-over 222 (71-76-75), with Emerson Dever, playing as an individual, posting a 6-over 222 (75-75-72). Valentine Delon tied for 25th with an 8-over 224 (70-80-74).
UNC Greensboro placed second in the team standings with an 11-over 875 (291-283- 301).
The Hokies are back in action March 9-10 at the Yale Invitational. Yale University is set to host the 54-hole event at the PGA West Nicklaus Course in La Quinta, Calif.
