Mila Mulready picked up a singles win for Tech

BLACKSBURG – Tech falls in its second conference match of the season, 4-1 to No. 23 SMU on Friday afternoon. 

The Hokies struggled in doubles as the Mustangs took all three courts to secure the point. 

In singles, Tech was trending in the right direction despite going down 3-0 in the match. Mila Mulready grabbed a win on Court 4, her first of the season, over Ellie Mireles, 7-6(3), 6-4. 

Özlem Uslu was up 6-4, 2-6, 4-2, and Elizaveta Castillo was up 7-5, 5-2 when the match was called due to an SMU win on Court 3 to clinch the match.

Tech plays its final home match of the weekend on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 9:30 a.m. against ETSU in a rescheduled match due to weather earlier in the season. Free Bojangles biscuits will be given away to fans.
