Virginia Tech women’s soccer adds transfer signee Julianna Trujillo for the 2026 season. Trujillo, a native of Cocoa, Fla., joins the Hokies after two years with Daytona State. She is a two-time national champion with the Falcons, earning NJCAA Tournament MVP honors both years. Trujillo was named the NJCAA Region 8 Goalkeeper of the Year and Region 8 First Team honoree in 2024 and 2025. She is a two-time NJCAA First-Team All-American and United Soccer Coaches All-American.
“We’re excited to add Julianna to the program,” head coach Chugger Adair said. “She’s a quality goalkeeper who is athletic, experienced, with continued tournament experience, and two national championships under her belt with Daytona State. We’re excited for her to join. We’ve enjoyed getting to recruit her through the process. We think she’s going to be a great addition and a wonderful goalkeeper for us.”
Why did you choose Virginia Tech? I chose Virginia Tech because it just felt right to me. The coaches and the staff truly care about me. From the start, I felt welcomed and pushed to be my best every day. The team culture is positive, supportive and competitive. The environment on campus was truly perfect for me to grow, compete, and get a great education.
What was your favorite thing about your visit? My favorite part of my visit was getting to spend time with the coaches and seeing how supportive everyone is. When I talked to some of the teammates, I loved how welcoming they were and how they truly care. I really enjoyed my time on campus, and I can’t wait to be a part of this team.
What excites you the most about being part of Virginia Tech women’s soccer? What excites me the most about being part of this team is to compete at a high level and challenge myself in training, be surrounded by coaches and teammates who are willing to guide me to the right path and always have my back, and continue to grow to become a better athlete on and off the field.
What are your soccer strengths? Throughout my soccer career, my biggest strengths on the field have been my bravery and competitiveness. I love to compete and give everything I have in every play, even when the game gets really intense. I also think bravery is really important as a goalkeeper because it helps me build my confidence by making difficult saves in high-pressure moments.
Who is your favorite pro player and why? My favorite pro player is Guillermo Ochoa because of his confidence, resilience, and passion in each game. It truly inspires me to push myself at practice and games.
What do you plan on majoring in? I plan on majoring in Mathematics Education
What is one thing you want Virginia Tech fans to know about you? As I step on the field, I represent all my coaches, past and present, as well as my school, family, and fans. I will make you proud.
