Virginia Tech women’s soccer has signed Adeline Mantie to the 2026 recruiting class. Mantie, a midfielder from Toronto, played club soccer with Pickering FC. In her time with the club, she won two league titles and a PDP National Championship. At the high school level, she is a two-time district champion and a City champion.
“We’re excited to add Adeline to our program,” head coach Chugger Adair said. “She’s a big, strong, athletic player who can play central, and she can play wide. She’s got some versatility as well. We’re looking forward to having her come to the States and be part of our program. Expect big things for her as she joins our Hokie program.
Why did you choose Virginia Tech? I chose Virginia Tech because of its welcoming atmosphere. The program’s hard work, togetherness and player development align with who I am as a student and an athlete. Between competitive academics and athletics, there is so much I am excited to tackle at Virginia Tech, and I can't wait to represent the Hokies at the highest level!
What was your favorite thing about your visit? My favourite part of my visit was seeing the team’s energy and how they pushed each other to be the best they can be. It showed me what kind of family the program is. I also really enjoyed walking around the campus and the town with the coaches. It made me so excited to start my journey here!
What excites you the most about being part of Virginia Tech women’s soccer? I am super excited to see how far I can go with the girls. I look forward to being a part of a family that will go through ups and downs together and always come out on top. I can’t wait to play under amazing coaches and against the best competition out there with this team.
What are your soccer strengths? My ability to be a positive force on the team is one of my best qualities – always pushing encouragement and energy onto the field. I am also very versatile. I can play many positions and have the work rate to push the entire game. I am also a playmaker who uses my speed and strength to beat defenders and play that final ball through.
Who is your favorite pro player and why? My favourite men’s player is definitely Messi. I grew up watching him dominate the game, not only with his individual skills but also his playmaking abilities. My favourite women's player is Sam Kerr. Her ability to be a lethal force at the front is mesmerizing, but she is also a fun player who truly enjoys playing the game.
What do you plan on majoring in? I plan on majoring in Agribusiness!
What is one thing you want Virginia Tech fans to know about you? Despite being Canadian and living in Toronto, I will always cheer for the Bruins!
