BLACKSBURG - As the spring semester gets underway, Virginia Tech football welcomed a fresh wave of talent to campus this weekend. Fifteen incoming freshmen from the highly regarded 2026 recruiting class, along with the arriving mid-year transfers, are now in Blacksburg to begin their journey as Hokies under head coach James Franklin.
The weekend arrivals follow a transformative offseason for the program. Franklin’s debut recruiting class earned national recognition, ranking No. 24 nationally and featuring eight four-star prospects — tied for the most in program history. The 22-member class emphasizes depth and physicality, highlighted by seven offensive line signees and a strong defensive presence. They’ll start classes, participate in winter workouts, and take part in team-building activities as preparations ramp up for spring practice and the 2026 season.
Virginia Tech’s incoming transfers add immediate experience to a roster anchored by a solid returning core. The Hokies’ transfer class currently ranks No. 5 nationally, according to On3, providing added competition and depth across multiple position groups.
