BLACKSBURG, Va. — Kaitlyn Cook continued to shine on day two of the Virginia Tech Invitational, achieving an all-time top-10 program record recognition in addition to multiple Hokie podium finishes to cap the first home meet of the season.
Cook competed in the triple jump, where she secured the victory with a new personal-best mark of 12.91m (42’ 4.25”). Her efforts landed her at No. 4 on the program’s all-time top-10 list. Her debut weekend concluded with victories and personal records in both events, as she won the 60m hurdles on day one with a personal-best time of 8.46.
Katrin Brzyszkowska competed in the shot put, where she also took home first place with a mark of 16.54M (54’ 3.25”), marking the second consecutive indoor season in which she won the shot put event in her season opener.
Chiara Sistermann rounded out the women’s field with the third victory of the day, clearing 4.17M (13’ 8.25”) to win the women’s pole vault. This marked Sistermann’s second first-place finish of the indoor season.
On the men’s side, the Hokies saw yet another debut win on the weekend, as Denzs Simmonds won the shot put with a mark of 17.40M (57’ 1”) to finish as the top collegiate competitor in the event.
In the men’s pole vault, Ben Conacher finished third with a clearance of 5.37M (17’ 7.25”).
Elijah Mosley, Armaan Dhillon, Nabil Tezkratt and Julian Roberson led the Hokies to a strong finish, winning the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:13.60.

Virginia Tech will divide and conquer next week, returning to Rector Field House on Jan. 23–24 to host the Hokie Invitational while also traveling to Lubbock, Texas, for the Red Raider Invitational at Texas Tech.
