BLACKSBURG - The Virginia Tech men’s basketball team fell to SMU 77-76 Wednesday night as Boopie Miller's half court heave found the net as time expired to give the home team the victory. The result drops the Hokies to 13-5 (2-3 ACC), while the Mustangs who are receiving votes in the AP Poll are 13-4 (2-2).

The first half began as an even affair as both teams tried to find a groove. Texas native Jailen Bedford connected on a triple (16:02) to give the Hokies a one-point advantage heading into the first medie break. From there, the hosts would take control, owning a 9-0 run to retake the lead at the 10:29 mark.

Tech fought back and used a 12-5 run to take the lead 33-32 on a Jaden Schutt layup in transition with just over two and a half minutes to play.

At the half, the Hokies trailed 39-38.

Out of the locker room, the Hokies used a 13-6 run to grab the lead which they would have for most of the period. Multiple Hokies were effective on the offensive end as Bedford led all scorers with 22 and Schutt knocked down four triples to finish with 15 points.

A Schutt triple with 29 ticks left made the score 76-72 in the Hokies' favor, but Tech would not score again and All-ACC guard Miller's three at the buzzer was the difference as the Mustangs walked off 77-76 winners.
