BLACKSBURG - Kristen Skiera, head coach of the Virginia Tech lacrosse program, has named the captains for the 2026 season. The squad will be led by seniors Caroline Little, Lauren Render, Emma Rowland and Molly Re.
Coach Skiera stated “We are very excited to be moving into our 2026 spring season with these four individuals serving as captains. They are tremendous leaders, people and players and will be integral in charting our course through the upcoming season!”
Little, hailing from Sykesville, Md., became a staple in Tech’s midfield as a sophomore. In her junior campaign, she caused 21 turnovers, picked up 38 ground balls, and won 13 draw controls, with all three being career-highs. In her career, she owns 29 starts in 44 games played.
Render emerged as a household name in 2025, leading the Hokies with 55 goals, the sixth-most in a single season in program history. She totalled eight hat tricks on the season, with three game-winning goals. After Tech’s upset of No. 11 Syracuse, spurred on by Render’s seven goals, she was tabbed as the ACC Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts. The senior was also named Second Team All-ACC 2025 and IWLCA Second Team All-Region 2025.
Rowland, in her second year with Virginia Tech, made an instant impact in the midfield upon her arrival in Blacksburg, starting in 13 of 18 contests during the 2025 season. Finding the back of the net on three occasions, she also caused nine turnovers and picked up 13 ground balls. During her time at ODU, she was named to the AAC All-Academic Team.
Re made her mark on the team throughout this past season. She appeared in 15 games, scoring eight goals, including a hat trick in the Hokies’ game against High Point. She also registered four assists, picked up eight ground balls, and won three draw controls over the course of the season.
