BLACKSBURG - Virginia Tech surged past George Mason 73-62, and moved to 8-2 on the year, extending the Hokies’ now five-game win streak in Cassell, sparked by an electric three-point outing for Jaden Schutt.

Schutt more than made his impact from downtown, sinking six, a career-high, and ending with a season-high 18 points on a 50% three-point percentage.

The Hokies were only ahead by three with four minutes remaining in the first half, when Schutt hit his first triple to double the lead. He then hit two more from beyond the arc, and the 19-4 run was capped off by another triple from Neoklis Avdalas

Amani Hansberry had himself a very efficient, all-around impact for Tech, notching 15 points on 70% shooting, seven boards, and career highs in rebounds and steals, with six and three, respectively. His frontcourt mate, Tyler Johnson, was an unsung hero for the Hokies, hitting five of his seven shots for 13 points and denying two shots on the defensive end.

Tech carried the momentum from the end of the first half to the end of the game, forcing 11 turnovers in the second half and continuing to run in transition, scoring 30 fast break points.
